The
Minyma Kutjara Arts Project works with the school in Irrunytju establishing a kids program at the Art
Centre. The Art Centre runs three sessions a week for each of the three classes
at the school. Each session begins with the children sitting beside their
grandparents, aunties and mothers to watch them paint and listen to their
traditional stories.
During 2012 the
children worked with the art centre and media centre to create an animation for
the National Ear Health Campaign and was screened on ICTV and NITV.
The School supports
this program in kind by supplying all artist materials including paints, paper
and canvases for the children to use. They also provide a teacher’s aid to help
facilitate the sessions.
